Exiled Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama is slated to visit the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh sometime next month. The proposed November trip will be the Dalai Lama’s fifth visit to the state, the last one was in 2003.

Times Of India[Sunday, October 18, 2009 21:27]

China on Sunday unveiled a giant plan to relocate a vast population to make way for the south-north water diversion project. It is this project, which has caused concern with some experts saying it might affect the flow of Brahmaputra in Assam. The Indian government has said it will try to find out if Chinese authorities are building a dam in Tibet as part of the project, which would cause serious harm to the Brahmaputra.

Resettlement authorities… Continue

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh visited Arunachal Pradesh to woo voters ahead of Monday’s assembly elections in the state.

"We demand the Indian side address China's serious and just concerns and not trigger disturbances in the disputed region so as to… Continue

No Dalai Lama Meeting? Think Again, Obama by Amitav Acharya

The White House's decision to postpone a meeting between the Dalai Lama and President Obama this week until after Obama's visit to China later this year is a bit strange, to say the least.

Every U.S. president since George H.W. Bush has met with the spiritual leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner, and Obama has already met Chinese leader Hu Jintao several times this year: on April 1, when the two met in London during a Group of 20 summit, and then on Sept. 22, when they met at the U.N. while atte… Continue

China tightens screws on Tibet for October 1st 60th anniversary: New details of ongoing protests and political prisoners

As people throughout China celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, in Tibet intense security and control measures remain in place following a wave of protests that swept the plateau since March 2008. In Lhasa and other cities, Tibetans have been compelled to participate in birthday celebrations for the PRC despite widespread fear and tensions, and military patrols have been stepped up. There have been restrictions on foreign tourists from entering the Ti… Continue

WHO WILL BE THE NEXT KALON TRIPA 2011

i think our next PM should be bold enough to take a bold decision and young energetic, full of new ideas and very competitive, think of 6 ,million people rather than own single image, hopefully we will have a great turning point after 2011, FREE TIBET, BHO-RANGZEN

In my opinion Prof Samdhong Rinpoche is a very knowledgeable and able administrattor.
I have met him and spoken to him at length. His knowledge and undertanding is very deep. and very wide.
He may not be brash and flomboyant. but he is firm and forthright in his approach with necessary politeness.
For a Goverbment in Exile and walking tight rope between China and India, he has executedhimself in excellent way.
I am not sure if any other manner would work under these circumstances.
Mind you this…

next kalon tripa became turning point in our freedom struggle life. i request all tibetan to vote for the one who can really carried this position. this is important not only for we tibetan in exile but more toward those who are in tibet. i wish all tibetan the best of luck and we will back to our tibet soon. long live his holiness and free tibet....we need some one like samthong rinpoche.BODHGYALO.

Important notes;
1; Apply all the democratic tools.
2; Maintain basic principles of our life and trasparency.
3; Space for critical questions and respect them (We Tibetans need to reflect on this-not instinctively but with farsightedness taking into consideration the democratic values).
4; Initiatives to raise awareness and pave way for the participation from all walks of life.
5; Avoid futile pregiudices( Support the truth rather than just supporting a stronger section-we need sixth sense).

The next Kalon Tripa must be someone with strong leadership skills, capable of leading the government, and bringing a clear vision that is bold and vibrant enough to also seize the interest and imagination of the young.]
