BETRAYAL
My father died
defending our home,
our village, our country.
I too wanted to fight.
But we are Buddhist.
People say we should be
Peaceful and Non-Violent.
So I forgive our enemy.
But sometimes I feel
I betrayed my father.

Dalai Lama urges Americans to visit Tibet

TIBET SUN

By Mark Egan
NEW YORK, US, 4 May 2009 (Reuters)

Tibet’s exiled spiritual leader the Dalai Lama on Sunday urged Americans to visit his homeland to disprove China’s assertion that people are happy there.

Speaking in Manhattan, the Tibetan Buddhist, who fled his homeland in 1959 after a failed uprising against Chinese rule, said Beijing insists, “Tibetans are very happy.”

“The Chinese… Continue

LIVES IN EXILE A saga of strangers in a strange land

March '09 marked 50 years of Tibetans in exile. It was in 1959 that 300 Tibetan refugees sought political asylum at Bylakuppe. Krishna Vattam who visited the camp then, paints a picture of their lives.

“I imagined them as tragic figures symbolising all the agonies that were inflicted upon their land of birth by an aggressive nation. I had pictured them as a dejected lot, devoid of hope and ambition, having succumbed to destiny. But this was not so. Although traces of misery have not been… Continue

Is it time for celebration or paying homage to the lives lost in the recent uprisings in tibet???

Yes, political activities n...

Yes, political activities need money, such as by organizing parties, but where the money will go sometimes is a question. of course i did not mean all. and can't people skip this time alone for "fundraising" so as not to mix up the general atmosphere of mourning. people can do anytime other than those moment of mourning to do the "party" for "fundraising", by then those who attend will dance, will drink, will at the some time forget those who dead, who are still suffering. poor those dead so oth…

not celebrating losar will ...

not celebrating losar will not make china happy at all, rather it will make china upset. it encourages tibetans inside tibet, many of them are not celebrating there as well.
to celebrate losar, to me is not little bit but very much akward considering more than 200 tibetans brutily killed by china this year and thousands imprisoned and remain unknown.
not celebrating is not a surrender to china, and it is not just mourning, it is also a protest to china.
maybe some of you didn't know that actuall…

i totally agree with them saying no losar 2009...bhot gyalo .it is not at all a good time to celebrate losar and organized party at this very critical time. specially i request NY AND NJ YOUTH congress to stop organizing parties at this very critical and sad time for all the 6 million tibetan.
